17.75 x 23.75 – 4 color silkscreen – S/N edition of 150 – This print was commissioned for Melrose’s Gallery 1988 “Is this thing on?” show in 2011. While researching Steve Martin I learned that he has an incredible collection of art including paintings by Kline, Picasso, Seurat and many others. For this piece I wanted to combine Martin’s love of modern art with his absurdly funny comedy. As you might have guessed, the cat juggling comes from a scene in “The Jerk”(my personal favorite Steve Martin film), and for the background I made a painting styled after Franz Kline’s work.
