Shepard Fairey is bringing a new body of work to the high desert with Justice in Bloom, opening November 14 at HeyThere Projects in Joshua Tree, California. The exhibition remains on view through December 10, 2026, with an opening reception on Saturday, November 14, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Fairey frames the landscape around Joshua Tree as more than a backdrop. Its ability to survive in severe conditions becomes a visual and conceptual model for persistence, renewal, and the long work of social justice. The show’s title turns that idea toward possibility: justice is presented as something cultivated, protected, and capable of new growth.

Graphic language in the high desert
The presentation gathers unique mixed-media works on paper alongside hand-painted multiples, serigraphs on paper and wood, and prints on metal. Across those formats, Fairey’s familiar graphic vocabulary of bold symbols, layered pattern, and direct political messaging is redirected toward the show’s themes of hope and resilience.
At HeyThere Projects
Founded in 2019 by Mark Todd and Aaron Smith, HeyThere Projects operates near Joshua Tree National Park and regularly connects contemporary art with the distinct culture and environment of the desert community. The setting gives Fairey’s imagery of roots, leaves, and collective action an especially literal charge.
